Tulum neighborhoods: pick your base for beach or town

In Tulum the choice of neighborhood decides how much you walk and how often you call a ride. Aldea Zama puts cafes, restaurants and sidewalks between downtown and the coast, about 15 minutes from the beach, while La Veleta clusters its small restaurants around Calle 7 but still has unpaved streets that slow every trip.

Region 15 trades convenience for quiet: it sits back in the jungle along the Coba Highway, roughly 15 minutes south of downtown, and beaches, restaurants and ruins all require a drive. Villas spread across Aldea Zama, La Veleta, Region 15 and Soliman Bay, and only Soliman Bay places the sand at the end of the garden.

Match the area to your trip. Couples and families do well in Aldea Zama; remote workers gravitate to La Veleta; quiet longer stays with a car point to Region 15. Groups, weddings and family holidays should weigh villa locations by how much walking they want versus driving.
